Cyril Neville, the youngest of the Neville Brothers came on board MAANGAMIZI - THE ANCIENT ONE in 1994. Under Cyril's direction, the musicians began creating themes and scoring the picture in the studio while the 1996 Jazz Fest was happening in New Orleans.  Besides Cyril, the musicians involved were Karl "Motown" Morrison, Roger "Funkatan" Poche, Enzo Fina, Lionel Acker and Omari Neville.

The unique music heard throughout the score in the film, Maangamizi - The Ancient One comes from the mesmerizing sound of the Fina Mbira, an instrument designed by musical genius, Enzo Fina.
