Thecla Mjatta, like many crew members wore several hats on the production. She was an invaluable asset as a Production Manager, and a very good Swahili teacher for many of us foreigners. As an Assistant Editor she was extremely helpful, as an actress, she is phenomenal. (She also won a Best Actress Award at the Frontline Film Festival (Zimbabwe, '90) for her portrayal of "Mariamu's Aunt" in ARUSI YA MARIAMU.)
SOUND RECORDISTS - Gregory Beda Joshua B. Alafia  Nurse Malika Chemi Mponda, Intern Ummie Hamid, Soundman Gregory Beda & Script Super Evodia Ndonde There were days where the crew worked sixteen to seventeen hours. We were shooting an average of seven pages a day, with usually no more than three takes. Mafoudha Alley Hamid was a TAMWA intern. Gregory Beda, our sound man on production in 1994, died the following year after a long illness. Evodia Ndonde, our script supervisor is now working on television programming in Tanzania through her company, TACEFF.
